Shared-language Alignment Framework

Stop treating turnover, burnout, and disengagement as personality issues. They are outputs of your system — and this framework exists to help you find the exact mechanism producing them, rather than defaulting to a vague explanation like "culture."

Work through all three checklists in sequence. Skipping to Checklist 3 defeats the purpose. Without honest answers on 1 and 2, your results on 3 will reflect aspiration, not reality.

Score each item as you go.

One note on the rubric: rating something "present but inconsistent" is not a neutral or reassuring score. Inconsistency is often more damaging to psychological safety than the outright absence of a practice — it teaches people that safety depends on luck, not on design.

Use this toolkit as intended: a working instrument, not a checkbox exercise.

Bring it into your organization, complete it honestly, and take action based on what you find.

What’s Next?

Once you've scored all three checklists, you'll have something most organizations never get: a precise map of where your system is producing the outcomes you're trying to fix.

That clarity is valuable — and it can also be uncomfortable. Seeing "present but inconsistent" scored across half your checklist is different from suspecting your culture has problems. Now you know where, and often why.

Knowing the mechanism isn't the same as knowing how to redesign it. If you've completed the assessment and are looking at results that point to real structural gaps — inconsistent psychological safety, unclear accountability, systems that reward the wrong behaviors — that's exactly where we work.

Contact Belonging at the Top to walk through your results with someone who's helped other leaders turn this kind of diagnostic into an actual redesign. We'll help you prioritize what to fix first, distinguish quick wins from deeper structural work, and build a plan that holds up under the same rigor you just applied to this assessment.

You did the hard part. You looked honestly. Let's talk about what you found.
